Tumble-Golems

Tumble-Golems are an evolution of the humble Tumble-Stones. Once a charming children’s toy, now a powerful guardian. They have been given a spark of greater magic by the influence of the God, Larsoa, by means of a “Heart-Stone”. This Heart-Stone acts as the core of any Tumble-Golem. When a Tumble-Stone becomes a golem, one of these Heart-Stones springs into existence and draws in materials from around it. The size of a golem varies based on the amount of material it has to work with. A Starkin can make their golem bigger or smaller by adding or taking away material.

These Heart-Stones have a few added boons and banes however.

A bonded Starkin may remove the Heart-Stone from the golem, causing its body to disappear. It can then be re-summoned at will. If someone other than its bonded Starkin attempts to take the stone, the golem will go berserk and lash out. If the stone is ever cracked or damaged, the golem will behave erratically until the damage can be repaired. If it is ever damaged beyond repair, it will cause the “death” of the creature, and its stones will fall to the ground becoming inert and lifeless.

They generally have a placid nature, but are completely loyal to their bonded Starkin. If they perceive a threat to their Starkin, they will do everything they can to remove that threat, or remove their Starkin from danger. That said, they are not very intelligent and their concept of a threat is very simplistic.

Variants

Tumble-Golems can become one of two distinct variants as described below.

You are allowed to design these however you would like, but they must follow the specified rules!

Sentry

Steed

The Tumble-Sentry are powerfully built but clumsy creatures. They are sedentary in nature and are best suited for protecting a specific location. Coaxing one into moving far can be quite difficult. They take their jobs to protect VERY seriously, sometimes a little too much as with the exception of their bonded Starkin, they have trouble differentiating friend and foe. Though with enough time and training, one can find a reasonable amount of success in preventing unwanted casualties.  Their forms can vary, but they always stand on two legs with many of them possessing an uncanny resemblance to a Starkin.

  • Must be Bipedal

  • Cannot have functional wings

  • Design must include a Heart-Stone

Tumble-Steed are typically much larger and faster, though they lack the dexterity possessed by most living creatures. A Tumble-Steed does not care if it tramples your garden. They are prone to wandering and it can be difficult to keep it in one place without some kind of assistance. They are protective, but unlike a Sentry they are not prone to attacking. Instead they prefer to remove their Starkin from the perceived danger. They are always quadrupedal and are usually draconic in appearance, though that is far from the only form they can take.

How to Obtain

Tumble-Golems are free to make! They must evolve from a Tumble-Stone following these methods below. They will not cost you anything though and you can make as many as you'd like!

To evolve your Tumble-Stone, you must do the following:

  • Depict your Starkin with the Tumble-Stone 6 times

  • Depict the Tumble-Stone being enchanted by a follower of Larsoa

    • Can be a player character with Larsoa's blessing/wings

    • Can be an NPC

      • Carnelian is always available for this

After that, your Tumble-Golem is yours to design and do as you please with! No further action needed. This mostly works on the honor system. You do not need to submit any forms to finalize your Tumble-Golem!

Tumble-Golems are not obtainable by items and do not have specific traits like premium pets. However, they may show up as raffles every now and then considering the extra steps needed to obtain them.

Please be aware that user-created Tumble-Golems cannot be traded to another member! But official designs released via raffles CAN.

In lore, a Starkin and their Tumble-Golem are soul-bound together. But beyond that, since we are not heavily moderating this system, it would be tricky to allow trading of member created designs. However if it was released via a raffle or similar event, and has an official artwork housed on an official Starkins account, those would be considered tradable.
