Magic Overview

Magic is an innate power within every Starkin. It is a blessing from their deities to help them live their lives more enriched and safely. Depending on the deity that had provided a Starlit's guardian determines the magic they begin with. Most magic is classified into five domains: Life, Fire, Water, Earth, Celestial. Regardless of what guardian a Starlit is born with, they may earn a deity's blessing as an adult to learn magic of another domain. The only magic that isn't capable of being learned by any Starkin is subspecies specific magic.

 

As Starlits, Starkins can only use their starting magic, however, their use and demonstration of their powers carry over into adulthood and help them pick up more advance techniques.

Magic In-Depth

Every Starkin is born with the innate ability to perform magical feats! Granted as a little Starlit, they are very minor and weak. But from a young age, starting with their parents, li'l Starlits are taught how to use what little magic they have. What magic a Starlit has is more than often reflected by their guardian, giving their caretaker a good idea of what they need to get ready in teaching a Starlit from the moment they’re born. Each Starlit’s magic is even a different color! Making them all unique! From breathing little purple flames to blowing little green bubbles! Some colors are rarer than others, and many believe that the rarity of the colors alludes to the strength of the magic. This is still being studied, but a lot of proof seems to point to that conclusion. It doesn’t help that Duyval’s Queen is one of the only dragons seen who’s magic is a gradient of silver and gold. Sun Guardians: Those hatched with a Sun Guardian are born with the natural ability to control fire. Young Starlits still with their guardian aren’t powerful enough to cause much chaos though. They only really have enough control over their magic to breath colorful little puffs of smoke and embers hardly hot enough to even burn tissue, but are plenty helpful in keeping little claws warm. And if they’re careful, can even pluck the small flames off candles and matches! They always go out once they leave the palm though. Those with Sun Guardians are also gifted with healing magics. This only really takes the form of healing from wounds at a much faster rate than normal. Although studies show that receiving healing kisses do in fact help make Boo-boos heal fifty percent faster. Moon Guardians: Those hatched with a Moon Guardian are born with the natural ability to control water. But much like their Sun counterparts, they’re not quite strong enough to move oceans quite yet. These Starlits are able to blow colorful bubbles that are much bouncer and stronger than the average bubble, and pop over time instead of through contact. Those who practice enough are even able to lightly manipulate water! Only enough to make little swirlies or move small puddles to keep little claws dry though. And just like Sun Guardians, Water ones are born with healing magic! Dreamer Guardians: Those born or who come into Urroa with Dreamer Guardians are gifted with the ability to vividly “Lucid'' dream. This is different from the type of luciding dreaming you can train your mind to do with enough practice though. They have the ability to completely control and experience their dreams as they sleep as if they closed their eyes only to open them in a different reality. And at a young age, this tends to make them immune to nightmares. The lack of nightmares seem to only commonly apply to Dreamer guardians born here though, and are not the norm.

By touching a Starkin, your Starkin can heal their wounds in an instant. They can also heal scars this way.

Mastery

Transformation

Temporarily, your Starkin can take the physical form of any other creature or Starkin.

Intermediate

Revitalize

With a wave of their hand, their magic can refresh any Starkin. They can also remove illnesses and toxins.

With extremely keen hearing, Destalpa are capable of knowing their surroundings using sound alone.

Advanced

Earth Bending

Destalpa have ways of moving and pushing the earth around them. They can easily create tunnels or move boulders.

Novice

Infrared Vision

Destalpa eyes are unique in that they're capable of seeing thermal radiation with proper training.

Mastery

Energy Transfer

Destalpa can either drain energy from something or transfer their own to something else, potentially depleting life.

Intermediate

Sound Flinging

Destalpa can create auditory sounds from no where or make their voice heard from impossible distances.

Learning Magic

Simply put, the way to learn new magic, is to use the kind you already know! Their Guardian determines what magic they start with, however, as an adult, they can gain the blessings of other deities to learn more domains by going on their corresponding Journey. The chart above has every corresponding deity listed so you know which you would need to gain the blessing of!

Your art must depict magic that they already know UNLESS they are working with a tutor in Advanced and Mastery or in special event circumstances. With a guiding hand, they are able to safely control their magic and use more complex techniques.

Below is how many times you have to depict your Starkin practicing magic to begin showing off the next level!

All magic learning art must be shaded with a simple background OR 1000 words!

Novice

Depict your Starkin using Starting magic of the same Domain 2 times.

Intermediate

Depict your Starkin using magic of the same Domain 5 times total.

Advanced

Depict your Starkin learning magic with a tutor. (Requires 1 Magic Apprenticeship)

Mastery

Depict your Starkin learning magic with a tutor. (Requires 1 Magic Apprenticeship)

Your Starkin MUST learn the previous magic before moving on to the next. (Ex: Your Starkin cannot learn Advanced Water when they haven't already learned Novice and Intermediate Water.)

To learn Advanced or Mastery magic, you must use the item, Magic Apprenticeship. Then you will have to chose a certified tutor in the desired Domain. Here's a list of teachers for each Domain!

After you have completed the required artwork, go to our #approval channel in the Discord and fill out the appropriate form! You will need to do this to advance each stage of magic.
