Lore Overview

Guardians are born alongside each Starlit. They are indestructible magical flying orbs. They can expand and contract to fit the protective needs of the Starlit. However, if it does this too much, it will need to recharge by resting on the back of its Starlit. As a Starlit becomes an adult, it will fuse with its Guardian. It can gain the color of its Guardian as well as the wings attached to it. These wings are magical in that they can disperse or appear as desired.
Life of a Guardian

Guardians are magical little winged orbs that are seen with every little Starlit! They’re born with them when they hatch out of their egg and become part of them as they grow.
Guardians themselves are made of magic, and come from the hatched Starlit's own natural magic. Their duty is to care for and protect the Starlit they’re hatched with, keeping them from any life threatening harm as much as possible. Thanks to being made from magic, Guardians are surprisingly capable and powerful. They can easily change their size and density to what is needed to save their Starlit. From becoming as large and soft as a big fluffy cushion to catch their Starlit as they fall from a tree, to a huge indestructible bubble to protect them from hostile creatures. There are even stories of Guardians powerful enough to destroy whole vices in order to save their Starlit.
Such power comes at a cost though. The more power and magic a Guardian uses, the weaker it becomes. If a Guardian’s power is used up, it will become see-through, dull, lethargic, and will come to rest on their Starlit's back, unmoving. Being part of the Starlit, meaning they share a magic reserve, it also affects the Starlit, often making them just as tired and sleepy. Some cases being as bad as having the Starlit hospitalized. No Starlit has ever perished in this way though and it's just a matter of being safe for those who fall into a deeply weakened state.

Starlits are raised and taught that their Guardian is a part of them, and share a mind, heart, and soul with each other. Something often reflected in practice. Guardians show excitement with their Starlit often, and will often show fear and curiosity as much as their Starlit does. Guardians are also great indicators to deep rooted issues as well. Many times a Guardian has outed a Starlit as afraid, angry, anxious, or hurt despite how the Starlit acts, often hammering home the fact to lil Starlits that they and their Guardian share emotions.
When a Guardian comes to the end of its life, it is always a bittersweet moment in every Starkin’s life. Since the end of theirs often marks the beginning of the Starkin. As Starlits grow and mature, begin to gain a handle on life, and finally feel a little grown up, they feel this tugging toward the sky. A feeling their Guardian feels as well. When the Starlit is ready and accepts this, they fuse and become one with their Guardian, absorbing their long separated magic source, and growing into adulthood. Along with a lovely set of wings ready to carry them into the sky. These little goodbyes are often tear filled, but these new adults are always often reminded of one simple thing;
“Every time you fly, and feel the joy of the wind under your wings…or every time you feel the grass or sand between your toes, every hardship overcome, and every love and friendship made, every choice you make that you are sure and proud of; that you and your guardian, being one happy being.”
