If you've got an adult that's looking forward to the joys of parenthood, you're at the right place! Here you will learn all about Starkin life stages, anatomy, and how your Starkin can have their own offspring!

First things first, some things to know going forward!

You MUST have an adult to create eggs.
1-3 adults can produce offspring (yes, you can have completely single parents!)
If multiple partners are involved and if they belong to others, you must have their consent!
You will need to make art (visual or writing) depicting leading up to the creation of the egg.
At least one member involved with the breeding MUST have an Egg Drop Elixir to create an egg. The Elixir will be consumed upon the egg being rolled!
You must fill out a Breeding Tracker for the Starkin involved!

Life of a Starkin

Birth and Adolescence

Starkin are facultative creatures with reptilian/draconian base traits that can be biped or quadruped at will. They are also oviparous, with their young coming from eggs.

Each Starkin starts life in an egg, roughly the size of a basketball, growing and developing with their guardian. Once hatched, the newly born Starlit is no bigger than twelve inches from their nose to their tail tip, able to fit in the palms of the average sized adult Starkin. Starlits start off this small since they develop in the egg with their guardian, making it a bit of a tight squeeze! Starlits are much like newborn pups at this stage, being small and blind, with their eyes tightly shut. They can smell and hear, which helps them recognize their parents/caregivers. Their Guardian comes out of the egg fully functioning, but often stay attached to their helpless little charges. Guardians are often very warm at this point in a Starkin’s life, giving the little newborns the warmth and comfort they long for after hatching out of their warm, cozy eggs.

As they get older, Starkin begin walking on all fours. At this age they also start eating solid foods, and begin showing traces of their magic. These beginning signs can take many forms depending on the Starlit’s main element, with whatever form the guardian takes also giving their caretakers an idea of what to prepare for.

When Starkin eat, every bit of the food is absorbed into the body, turning into much needed nutrients and mana needed for their magic. Young Starlits that start eating more nutrient dense food will often accidentally use, discharge, or even “burp up” magic as their body adjusts.

Once a starlit is old enough, they’re sent off to their respective kingdom’s Spire, where they are given care, schooling, and much needed socialization as they grow. Among their schooling, they are taught beginner magic, history, general education, and the arts. At this age, Starlits will also decide if they want to shift to a biped stance, or stay on all fours. Some even just do both whenever the mood strikes them.

Adulthood

As Starlits learn, grow, and come into themselves, their Guardian’s guide and aid them less and less. With this new found independence and acceptance of their growth, both Starkin and Guardian are filled with a powerful urge and surge of magic. The two will embrace and become one, giving the Starkin the full depths of their magic and their wings.

Once a Starlit becomes a full grown Starkin, they are quickly enrolled into advanced magic classes, and flight lessons. Once given their wings, Starkin are very much capable of flight, despite the wing type. The only reason why a Starkin would or could not fly, is if they’ve been influenced by a vice to a high enough degree, or if they simply choose not to.

Along with new lessons and flight, Starkin are also invited to move into their Spire if they had been living with a parent or caregiver previously. Despite being grown adults, rushing into adulthood can be a very intimidating task, and whether or not the Starkin chooses to move in, the Spire will help them with learning how to navigate the new world of responsibility and independence.

Creation of New Life

Along with a new found life of their own, sometimes adulthood can lead to other things, like romance. With romance, can also come the cycle anew; a little egg of their own. While not every Starkin will want a romantic relationship, there are many ways a little one is made. The most common way, of course, is through two very in love Starkin coming together to make a new little life. The physical sex of a Starkin is often not a problem either! Being a being made largely of magic, it’s a very simple task of making the proper potion to circumvent the issue. This potion is known as an “Egg Drop Elixir”. This potion is given to the one who will be “Dawning” the little one; bringing them to life. Their “Dusk,” or “Dusks,” (the other parent or parents) can be someone of their choosing, their close friend, or even a random donor!
You see, these potions are made by a powerful magic using Starkin then combining it with the essence of one to three Starkin (blood, magic, claws, feathers, etc.) into a brew. Once ingested, their body will react accordingly. Be it by getting the Starkin’s body ready to be gravid, or by adjusting their physical body with the means necessary to do so! While rather uncomfortable, it’s usually not painful.

Now, what about Starkin that just rather not go through the whole, “being gravid for months and then laying an egg?” Lucky for them, this very potent potion has another use as well. Should a Starkin wish for a child of their own, but desire no partner nor want to be gravid, they have a third option.

A stone made of a rare material or mineral can be used to make an egg. The parent to be would have to carve and shape the material into the proper egg shape while using their magic. Much like magic artifacts, charms, or relics, these stones can be imbued with the Starkin’s magic, and when brought to a temple of Duvyal, the acolytes will happily bathe the egg in the holy waters there. After a bath and a heartfelt prayer, the egg is returned. Once returned, the egg is to then be bathed in the needed elixir.

The egg is allowed to rest for a week, and then brought to either a doctor, or back to the temple, where it is checked and then either confirmed fertile and developing, or if something went wrong in the process.

Of course, adopting is also very much an option!! Be it an egg, a freshly hatched Starlit, or an eager little bright eyed child ready for a loving home, there are many ways a Starkin can enter the world of parenthood. The Spire is also very much equipped to help new parents, so they never have to feel like they’re fully alone!

How to Make a Starlit Egg

To start, fill out a Breeding Tracker. Make a copy to your own Drive!

In this tracker, you will need to:

Link to a detailed reference of the Starkin
- This reference must have a clear color palette somewhere and show all current upgrades
Fill out every upgrade in the proper locations
- The locations align with the tabs they're on!
Have your Starkin's name and ID# listed

If you have multiple characters, you may put them on the same tracker, but make sure they have their own tabs!

Artwork requirement for the breeding is a shaded with simple background OR 750 word piece of every Starkin involved leading up to the creation of the egg. Only one image is required per breeding request!

This could be obtaining the elixir, a pivotal moment in their relationship, or the process of adding material to a cauldron! The prompt is loose, so feel free to interpret this in any way as long as it's clearly related to the creation.

Who's Elixir: [if multiple members]

Provide all members involved! If there's only one person involved with the egg creation, the Elixir will automatically be taken from your inventory.

Once the form has been posted, if there's multiple people involved, they will need to react to the message with the blue check-mark emoji (☑️).

When your egg is rolled, a moderator will create a thread and add all members involved. You will receive a comment about the egg details (upgrades, colors, and ID#) as well as a premade application for the offspring!

This egg can be claimed by one of the members or it can be given/traded and created by another person! There are no responses or mechanics needed for this. The owner of the offspring will simply fill out the given application and send it to #approvals!
