Journeys


Starkin as a species are drawn to their creators, their deities that govern the world they reside in. In small ways, they are able to interact with these otherworldly dragons. Sometimes it entails traveling to a place, other times, it's searching within one's self. Regardless, these usually require a guide. Guides are often acolytes and/or Emissaries of the specific deity the Starkin wishes to reach out to. However, Alnair is an all-around coordinator for all Journeys who is happy to lead others closer to the deities.
Emissaries
Emissary Starkins are those that have a significantly stronger connection to a single specific deity. It is a high honor among Starkin society to be an Emissary.

To become an Emissary, one must complete a journey for the specific deity 5 times.
Acolytes
Being an Acolyte is a job that one can take on after establishing a strong connection with a specific deity. Their work includes spreading the ideals of their chosen deity, helping upkeep their message (healing the hurt, fulfilling others dreams, etc), guiding journeys, and maintaining temples or shrines.

Currently this is just flavor, but perhaps a future deity will bring more purpose to a Starkin having work~!
Shrines
Shrines are a direct connection to the deities. At their dedicated shrine, they can accept offerings, hear messages, and generally feel closer to their beloved Starkins. Every deity's shrine is different and usually reflects their ideals and unique symbolism. All deities also tend to have multiple shrines, which range from personal altars to full fledged chapels.

They are charged through a Starkin's own magic. When they speak to a deity there, a small portion of their magic is given to them. This isn't enough for the Starkin to feel, but it does help keep the connection. If it's been a while since a shrine has been used or the stability of the structure is compromised, the connection to the particular deity is weakened.

While Starkins can speak to the deity through their shrine, only acolytes, journey coordinators, or emissaries can receive a response unless it's under special circumstances. These circumstances include deity awakenings and going on a journey with one that can receive a response.

Going on a Journey
To go on a journey, you must use an adult Starkin. Then you would make a post in our Discord server channel, #Journeys and fill out the proper form. After you have filled it out, you will receive a reply in a thread. This reply will include a prompt pertaining to the deity of your choice. You will then need to make a response in the form of art or writing. The art requirements are shading with a detailed background OR 1,000 words!
You can only do one Journey at a time. Once finished, you may go on another immediately.
Once you have completed the prompt, you will gain the blessing of that deity! This means you unlock the basic magic in their domain and gain the ability to apply their virtue upgrade!

After going on three journeys for a single deity, a Starkin may be an acolyte of the deity. After two more journeys (five total), they will become an Emissary to that deity!
